Working in a Way That Works for You and Builds on Your Strengths
This blog post is an invitation to gently reflect on how you’re working in your business — and whether it’s really working for you.
As someone who supports female business owners through virtual assistance, tech systems, and coaching, I’ve seen first-hand how easy it is to get pulled into the noise. We’re constantly told how we should be working, what we should be offering, how we should show up online.
But one of the most powerful shifts we can make is to pause and ask:
What actually works for me?

There’s No One-Size-Fits-All
The way you work —your structure, your rhythm, your offers — can and should be personal. What energises one person might completely drain another. Maybe you’re someone who loves hosting retreats and thrives in live group spaces. Or perhaps you prefer working quietly behind the scenes, sharing your wisdom in a podcast or through writing.
Your business gets to reflect that.
And it’s okay if what worked for you in a past season no longer fits. The transition from employment to self-employment, or even changes within your personal life, can shift your working style. It’s not about finding a fixed solution forever, but rather staying attuned to what you need right now.
Working With Your Strengths
There’s often pressure to constantly learn new things in business. And while growth and curiosity are great, it’s also okay to build on what you’re already good at.
Maybe you’re a natural teacher. Or you’re amazing at holding space in groups. Maybe you’re great at writing, or you prefer talking over typing. What if your marketing didn’t have to follow trends like reels or daily stories - but instead flowed through a blog or newsletter, something that feels good and sustainable?
When we work from our strengths, things start to feel more easeful. Resistance lessens. And while some challenges will still arise, they don’t feel quite as draining when we’re rooted in what we naturally enjoy and do well.
Creating a Rhythm That Supports You
How you structure your day matters just as much as what you’re working on.
You might hear stories about 5am routines, cold plunges, journaling and running before the sun’s up — and maybe that works for some people. But if it leaves you feeling exhausted by 9am, it’s probably not your rhythm.
For me, slower mornings are key. Being able to rest a bit longer and ease into the day makes everything else flow better. And that’s part of my own definition of success: not rushing, but working in a way that honours my energy.
Your rhythm might be different. Maybe you work best later in the evening, or need a midweek pause. Maybe you thrive on structure, or maybe you need flexibility. The point is: your schedule can be yours.
Conclusion
Finding what works for you — and building your business from that place — isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about tuning in, making small shifts, and trusting yourself along the way.
You get to do things differently.
You get to make it work for you.
An Invitation to Reflect
So here’s a gentle prompt:
What actually works for you?
What kind of work feels natural?
When do you feel most focused or creative?
What are your strengths —and are you building your business around them?
Where are you forcing things just because you think you “should”?
Let yourself be honest. Let your answers shift as you do. Because when you start to work in ways that are truly aligned, things become more sustainable, more enjoyable — and far less stressful.
I’d love to know — what insight are you taking from this?
What’s coming up for you as you reflect? Feel free to share if you feel called.
What is your biggest takeaway?
